USS Iowa Floating Museum

“What a fascinating day experiencing our American Naval history up close and hands on! We traveled to San Pedro and took a tour aboard the USS Iowa, the biggest U.S. battleship ever built! The 45,000-ton warship known as the “battleship of presidents” has been transformed into the most interactive and educational museum of its kind and now makes her home in Los Angeles Harbor as a floating museum. Designated the “World’s Greatest Naval Ship” due to her big guns, heavy armor, fast speed, longevity and modernization, she kept pace with technology for more than 50 years. USS Iowa is the last lead ship of any class of United States battleships, and was the only ship of her class to have served in the Atlantic Ocean during World War II. We had an opportunity to experience what life at sea aboard the Battleship Iowa was like during active duty as we toured such areas as the Captain’s Quarters, the Command Engagement Center, the Tomahawk Cruise Missile Launchers and more.”
