You won’t need a passport on this summertime “daytrip to Italy!” Come with us to Naples Island near Long Beach for a ride aboard an authentic wooden gondola. The oversized gondolas on our tour provide a smooth and stable ride, allowing you to relax while traditionally attired gondoliers provide a leisurely cruise along the scenic canals and waterways of Naples Island past magnificent homes and yachts. Your gondolier may even treat you to an authentic “gondolier’s song” while you enjoy an included glass of sparkling cider, or feel free to bring your own favorite wine or beverage to sip during your cruise. Afterwards, enjoy some free time to take a stroll at Shoreline Village, a quaint Cape Cod-esque harbor side shopping area in Long Beach. In keeping with the Italian theme, prior to your gondolier ride you’ll enjoy an all-inclusive lunch at Romano’s Macaroni Grill, where you’ll dine on classic Italian fare. Nestled among majestic pines in the San Jacinto Mountains, the mile-high town of Idyllwild puts on an annual summertime festival highlighting the uniqueness and rarity of one of the region’s most precious native flowers – the lemon lily – which grows in only a few Southern California locations, all above 4,000 feet. The festival is intended to foster appreciation and restoration of this rare and beautiful plant whose population was depleted by early 20th-Century bulb collectors. Lemon lilies can grow to over five feet tall with up to 30 flowers on a stalk emitting a heady lemon-vanilla scent. Highlights of the festival include nature walks to see wild lilies, local artisan booths, guest speakers, live music, food vendors, and a “Pioneer Town” with hands-on activities and demonstrations by artisans of goods from bygone eras.
