Join us for a day of architecture, history and trains as we ride the rails aboard Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner to L.A.’s Union Station where you’ll embark on a guided tour of this iconic landmark. Completed in 1939, Union Station was the last grand railroad station built in America and features monumental architecture that is a unique combination of Spanish Colonial Revival and Art Deco styles. Following the tour you’ll have time for lunch on your own at the Metropolitan Water District’s employee cafeteria or the Mexican-themed Olvera Street. After lunch we’ll visit L.A. City Hall, another architectural masterpiece brought to life by the same architect that designed Union Station, John Parkinson. At City Hall you’ll have time on your own to visit the observation deck and explore this fabulous structure, which was the tallest building in California from 1928-1964. You’ll then return to San Diego via deluxe motor coach.
