On April 15, 1912, the world’s massive “unsinkable” ship struck an iceberg and sunk during its maiden voyage, losing thousands of lives. The tragedy of the Titanic brought about questions of the success of technological “progress,” as well as a dismantling of class structure and ideals; the 19th-century belief that God favored the rich could suddenly no longer be true. Titanic the Musical examines the causes, conditions and characters involved in this ever-fascinating drama. This is the factual story of the ship and her officers, crew and passengers, but she does not, as has happened so many times before, play merely a background role – the central character of this show is the Titanic herself. Travel with us to the award-winning Candlelight Pavilion in Claremont for a gourmet lunch served by formal waitstaff and a matinee performance of Titanic the Musical.
